This notice explains how we handle the images you upload to our AI mould detector and any other personal data we collect. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about what we do with your information.

What information we collect

When you use our AI mould detector, we collect:

  • The images you upload: The photos you take of potential mould in your home. These images may contain personal data about your home environment.
  • Any information you provide with the images: This could include notes you add about the location of the mould or your home.
  • Technical data: Information about your device, like your phone model, and how you use the app.

How we use your images and data

We use the images and data you provide for one purpose only: to detect mould.

  • Your image is sent to Google's Vertex AI platform, which uses the Gemini model for analysis.
  • The AI model analyses the image to detect the potential presence and severity of mould.
  • The result of this analysis is then sent back to you.

We do not store your data. The image is processed in memory and is not saved, stored, or shared after the analysis is complete.

Cookies

We use small text files called cookies that are placed on your device (like your computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit our website. These help us to:

  • Make our website work: Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function correctly.
  • Improve our website: We use other cookies for analytics, to understand how people use our website. We will always ask for your consent for these.

Our legal reason for processing your data

Under UK GDPR, we must have a valid reason to use your data. When you upload an image to our AI mould detector, our legal basis is consent.

  • By uploading your images, you are giving us your clear and specific permission to use them for the purpose of mould detection.
  • You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Who we share your data with

  • Data Processor: Google acts as our Data Processor when analysing your images using the Vertex AI platform. This means they process the data on our behalf and for our specific purpose. We have a contract with Google to ensure your data is protected.
  • More information on Google's data handling: You can read more about how Google handles data submitted to its services in their Data Governance for Generative AI documentation.

We will not sell your images or personal data to any other companies.
